This is a continuation of a series of articles I started two days ago on The Little Things in Life.
3. Smile and Laugh for No Reason
Of all the things you wear, your expression is the most important. We know that life is not fair. I have my own fair share too (no pun intended). When you have a cheerful disposition towards life, you attract positivity(sic). Good things naturally gravitate towards you. We often express this by either smiling or laughing. It’s so easy to smile and laugh when you have a thriving business, a fat bank account, your children are doing well morally and academically, you just got promoted at your workplace etc. The big enchilada is when you still make a conscious decision to rejoice by smiling and laughing when your blue skies are gone.
Don’t be held hostage by your circumstances.
A moment ago, someone banged the phone down on the hook while I was talking. I had to laugh for no reason. Laughing at that moment helped me overcome negative emotions.
Laughter, being an inward feeling of joy and happiness is one of God’s gifts to humanity. It is the language of the soul. It is therapeutic(Proverbs 17:22); it is the best medicine. It rejuvenates.
I’m still learning to smile, for I know it is a vital part of my rejuvenation.
Nat King Cole encourages us to smile:
Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you’ll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through for you
So when life tosses lemons to you, turn them to lemonade by smiling and laughing for these are the little things of life.
